Once upon a second time around...

I was talking with a friend about relationships. This person believes that it can never work a second time. I disagree. I think that if two people love eachother then they can make it work. Sometimes people just need to be away from each other to figure out what they miss about that person, to figure out what they loved about them, to figure out that they actually did love them.
Sometimes the realization that a relationship can be lost is incentive enough for a person to make changes and make it work. Sometimes losing someone can make you see what you did to chase them away. Sometimes losing someone can make you more honest with them and yourself...
My friend was not convinced. I think this friend just has not found someone worth going back to...
So, I am throwing this question out there to no one and everyone...

Do you think that relationships can work out a second time around?

Paris...

This summer I finally realized a dream of mine. I have always wanted to go on a vacation that was not some type of family trip. I wanted to feel independent. I wanted to do something with the sole purpose of enjoying myself. I wanted to spend shitloads of money pleasing myself. I wanted it all to be about me...
All my trips have been to visit family. To spend time with everyone so that no one is offended. I wanted to make my own plan and agenda...
So, this year, after I went to visit my family in the USA I came back to Egypt. I emptied my suitcases and packed another one.. I was finally going to do it. Ticket and passport in hand I left my house and headed to Paris. It was the trip I was waiting a very long time to take. A part of me thought it was too good to be true. I was waiting for the flight to be cancelled, for my ticket to be wrong, for them to lose my suitcase, I felt like it was too perfect and something was bound to ruin my dream trip... nothing did.
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my lifetime. I felt different there and since I have been back.

Planes, trains, and automobiles...

I have been on vacation for 7 weeks.
I spent less than a week of that in Cairo.
I travelled over 15,000 miles. I spent about 30 hours on airplanes and about the same at airports.
I have been in cars, taxis, trains, metros, airplanes, and busses. I walked a shit load too!
I slept in 3 different continents in less than a week.

Damn, it feels good to be home. It feels good to know that I will be sleeping in my own bed for a while...
